Many of us fear failure. Yet we all know that we learn through mistakes. The sin is not trying and failing, the sin is NOT trying at all. You can move passed your fears.
Let us dispense with the myth. No one is all knowing, doing everything right all of the time. We live in a society that encourages mediocrity because we cover up our failures, ratioanlise blame and are made to feel bad for failure. The reality is that we have all failed at various times and failure is an inevitable part of life. Indeed, failure is to be expected. It is through failure that we learn and it is failure that defines us and allows us to progress. It is how we handle that failure is what matters.
- Accept that failure will occur and that it is nothing to be ashamed off. A disappointment, yes, but not a show stopper.
- Failure shows that you are out there trying to do things. You have to be doing things to fail. Total failure only comes from doing nothing.
- Failure is NOT a representation of your total and utter failure. It is only one thing that you did. You still have an incredible range of skills, experience and expertise to bring.
- Failure is a tool for understanding what went wrong and for bettering ones self. It is not a tool for beating ones self with.

There is an old saying, "winners blame themselves and losers blame everyone else". We can all blame others for our failure, we can rationalise and avoid our responsibilities but this is not what defines us. We define ourselves through accepting responsibility, by being accountable and standing up. This is what people respect and both you and they are better for it.
There is no magic bullet for overcoming your fear of failure. It is about accepting the failure, working out how it happened and what you are going to do better next time. Take it one step at a time.
